The 7th Edition of the Motokwe Horse Race Championships proved to be a spectacular event, celebrating both sport and community development. Delivering the keynote address, the Honourable Minister of Sports & Arts (MOSA) Mr. Jacob Kelebeng highlighted the event’s vital role in uplifting the Motokwe community. He emphasized the immense potential of horse racing to contribute to economic growth, create employment opportunities, and position itself as a lucrative avenue for sports and agro-tourism. The Minister concluded his remarks by declaring the event officially opened.
The event was graced by esteemed guests, including the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) CEO Mr. Tuelo D. Serufho and the Botswana Horse Racing Association Vice President (Admin) Mr. Thuso Krema. Sponsors and stakeholders in attendance included Motokwe Chief Mr. Batho Tshosa, Deputy District Commissioner Mr. Ronald Masole, Gambling Authority CEO Mr. Peter Kesitilwe, Botswana Vaccine Institute CEO Mr. Andrew Madeswi, Landboard Chairperson Hon. Kgang Kgang, VDC members, and representatives from the media.
