GABORONE – The Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 2, 2024, with 33 out of 38 National Sport Associations (NSAs) in attendance.
The meeting saw updates from key figures in the sporting community, including the BNSC Board Chairperson, Mr. Marumo Morule. He addressed attendees by reviewing the Commission’s status and celebrating the outstanding achievements of athletes and teams on the international stage throughout 2024. Additionally, he extended congratulations to newly elected executives of various NSAs and welcomed the newly appointed Sports and Arts Minister, Mr. Jacob Kelebeng, expressing the sporting community’s eagerness to collaborate with his Ministry.
The BNSC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tuelo D. Serufho, provided an update on the Commission's strategic performance for the past financial year. He outlined key initiatives, such as enhancing athlete performance, increasing sport participation, promoting women’s involvement in competitive sports, and implementing a master plan for sports facilities, including maintenance strategies. The Commission also shared a comprehensive financial report, which prompted insightful discussions among the NSAs. These discussions generated valuable feedback and suggestions from the attendees.
The Honourable Minister of Sports & Arts, Mr. Jacob Kelebeng, attended the AGM, delivering a brief address and meeting with representatives from the NSAs. The Minister also engaged with the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) President, Col. Botsang Tshenyego, and BNOC CEO Dorothy Tlagae-Gaseitsiwe. He was accompanied by Director of Sports & Recreation, Mr. Imon Moreetsi Bogosi, and his Private Secretary, Lebogang Gaboitaolelwe.
