Gaborone, 23 November 2024 – Today, the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), in collaboration with the Botswana Softball Association (BSA), proudly hosted the Re Ba Bona Ha Softball Centre Re-Launch at National Diamond. The event attracted over 100 enthusiastic kids aged 6-13 from schools across the greater Gaborone area.
In his keynote address, Mr. Patrick Mokwele, Debswana’s Manager of Corporate Affairs, emphasized the company's dedication to grassroots sports development, highlighting an impressive investment of over 16 million pula in the RBBH Program since 2008. He expressed how this sponsorship has created valuable opportunities for children nationwide to engage in their sport of choice.
The BNSC CEO Mr. Tuelo D. Serufho encouraged the young athletes to take their sporting pursuits seriously, noting the potential for sports to become a rewarding career. He also extended gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support, acknowledging that this journey wouldn’t be possible without them.
The day included hands-on demonstrations of softball led by In-house Sport Development Officer Donald Ferguson, who inspired the kids with engaging activities and a ceremonial pitch by the BNSC CEO and Debswana.
Notable attendees included BNSC Sport Development Manager Fredrick Kebadiretse, BSA President Tirelo Mukokomani and his Board, Botswana Fencing Federation President Mandla Masuku, along with parents and members of the media.
