Botswana has received two invitations (Tshepo Kelaotswe and Glody Dube) to The Kip Keino Classic (an International one day track and field meet outside the Diamond League), to be held on the 18th September 2021 at Nairobi,Kenya.
Botswana Athletics Association Vice President in Sport Development, Tshepo Kevin Kelaotswe, who is also a professional electronic timer certified and accredited by World Athletics has been invited for his technical expertise in electronic timing.
He will be amongst the three (3) forming the electronic timing team, with John Chizu from Zambia and Kim Peeters (Director of TimeTronics) from Belgium. Tshepo Kelaotswe's invitation comes after an impressive delivery during the first edition of the Kip Keino Classic in 2020, making this invitation the 2nd consecutively.
Glody Dube as an organiser of the Gaborone International Meet which has a World Athletics Bronze level certification, has been invited to attend as well. He will be attending a meeting with other organisers where discussions will be centred around preparations and hosting of such meets.
He received the invitation by the Meet Director to appreciate how the meet organisers are doing things, benchmarking purposes ahead of the Gaborone International Meet Continental Bronze Tour 2022.
"The Kip Keino Classic is on a Gold level, whereas the GIM is Bronze certified, and thus benchmarking from the organisers of this meet will come in handy, as we aspire to reach the Gold level certification one day as the GIM." said Glody Dube.
