The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has partnered with the Botswana Badminton Association (BBA) through provision of a badminton coach on voluntary basis for a duration of two (2) from 2024 to 2026.
According to JICA Botswana, Mr. Kaita Fukuda, is a health and sport scientist with a master’s degree in health & sports sciences. Fakuda has taught health and physical education, coached elementary, junior and high school badminton teams as well as clubs. With such experience, the association and the country will benefit especially in propelling development of badminton from grassroots in order to produce internationally competitive players.
When receiving Mr. Fakuda during a handover ceremony organized by JICA Botswana and BBA, the Director of Sport Development at BNSC, Mr. Peaceful Seleka mentioned that one of the BNSC’s main mandate is to set the tone for sport development and such partnerships between JICA Botswana and BBA bears testimony to the work done in the background. He continued to congratulate the BBA and encouraged them to take advantage of the availability of Mr. Fakuda skill set.
For their part, the BBA clearly outlined that their intentions is to work with Mr. Fakuda through channeling his expertise towards development structures especially grassroots throughout the country.
The BNSC welcomes Mr. Fakuda to Botswana and wishes him success in his journey with the BBA and look forward to his contribution to sport development in the country.
